Self Love - Self Care Journey

February, the month of love is here again. Everyone is so busy planning valentines for their significant other or some of us are trying to open up our emotions to someone we like. But, to love someone else we first have to love ourselves. I am a strong believer and follower of self love and self care. Taking care of yourself is similar to keeping a well-oiled machine, in my opinion it keeps you feeling refreshed, less stressed, and keeps you functioning at your best.

Falling in love with yourself will completely change your entire life. When you start to deal with your authentic self instead of others, you’ll quickly notice three significant changes in your life - You’ll feel better, your mental health will improve, and the quality of your relationships will also improve. It all starts when you decide that you are the main character of your life and that you have the ability to change all aspects of it if you wish to. Others will like you only if you love yourself. No one wants to be with someone who always looks down to their own self, always has this victim mindset or makes others pity them. Constant self-love practice is a powerful tool. Before I got into a relationship with my partner I spent the past few years of my life practicing self love and even practice it now. If you are happy and love your own self everything will just fall into place. I will be sharing some tips which can help you accept and love yourself.

Let go of your past - we can love the wrong person and regret our poor choices, but even if things don’t go as planned, one thing is certain, making mistakes helps us find the right people and great things. Whatever happens in your life prepares you for the next step in your journey to self-love. Always praise and appreciate yourself - whenever you accomplish something, no matter how small it is. Involve into dating only when your ready. When something has to happen, it happens at the best possible time, with the best possible person, and for the best possible reasons. A big part of self-love is knowing you’re good enough and self-acceptance is one of the most important things on your journey of self-love. Also, taking care of your physical appearance is really important - have a weekly or bi weekly beauty maintenance day. Personal grooming will give you a boost of confidence.

Just like a car needs fuel, your body and mind need care too. Self-care means doing things that make you feel happy and relaxed. I can go on and on about self love, which is why I might be writing more on self care in my future blog posts.

Self-love is not selfish; you cannot truly love another until you know how to love yourself.” ― Unknown
