Journals are hard to maintain. I have been through that stage whereby I keep a diary but fail to maintain it, especially during my teenage days. As I came to my early 20s I started blogging which I also am not that consistent with. So lately I bought a new diary for myself and slowly developed the habit to fill it in with my thoughts, life experiences, and so on. Diaries, journals, and blogs are 3 different things: The most personal of the three is generally a diary. They're usually organized by date and include time for you to jot down what occurred during the day. In some ways, a journal is similar to a diary. It can be used to document life events in the same way that a diary can, but it does not need to be done daily. A person might also keep a variety of various types of journals. A blog is a digital version of a diary or journal that is published on the Internet and private thoughts are mostly not published. So if you're having a hard time maintaining your journal/diary entry you need to start getting more consistent with it. But here's the thing: writing in a journal is a habit. It's not something you do when you're feeling good or have a lot of free time. For me, I don't write daily entries because that just gets really boring over time. The 2 best times to journal are early in the morning once you wake up or at night before sleeping. Once you fix that journaling time, you will develop a habit. The most common question is what to write? Remember when in school you wanna remember something for exams so you scribble it all over your notebook to remember the concept. The same applies to journaling, writing the memory/thoughts or goals which you want to remember and can always re-read. I personally journal to write down gratitudes, my goals, and the memories I encounter. Pinterest is quite a help when it comes to finding prompts. So next time when you're trying to be consistent with journals try forming a habit of writing, and it's not necessary to write daily! Journaling also makes me in a better mood which is so good for mental health. And remember it's your journal so write whatever you feel like, no one will judge you :)
